  • My Story

College was not affordable for me. I was on my own to pay for it. And believe me, I applied to every single scholarship possible. Small-money scholarships are just not enough and highly competitive.

  • I took a gap year from high school and did AmeriCorps, traveling the United States for free and volunteering in response to natural disasters with FEMA. Not only did my participation in this opportunity strengthen my university application, but it changed my worldview and gave me time to learn about and apply to big-chunk merit-based scholarships.

  • I went to a small, liberal arts college on a full-ride scholarship. I even got to study abroad for a year in Spain!

  • In my sophomore year of university, I learned about fellowships, which are essentially “fancy” scholarships. After winning my first fellowship, the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS), I was hooked and realized just how many fully-funded scholarships and programs are out there.

That probably means that you want to take matters into your own hands to afford your own education and live your dream using scholarships, fellowships, and fully funded opportunities.

Here's what they have to say:

  • After graduating from university in 2023, I worked as an English Teaching Assistant with the Fulbright program in Spain. In this gap year, I also met many people doing similar programs such as NALCAP and Workaway.

  • I am currently participating in the DAAD program, living in Germany, learning German, earning my Master’s degree, and getting paid.

I created this website to help people who were interested in these programs! Please reach out to me and I will be more than happy to answer your questions and help guide you on your own journey!

Your Scholarship Advisor

This isn’t a conventional job title! I guess the closest to this title might be your high school guidance counselor? or one of those bogus websites that lists all of the scholarships that exist. I want to work with you to find real opportunities! I have seen so many websites and apps that promise to help you apply for and find millions of dollars in scholarships. Of course, you should apply to these. These are good. And I can help you write with confidence. However, I am way more interested in helping you find and apply for the big scholarships, the lump sums, the lottery you can apply for. What people never say is that there are countless merit based scholarships and programs that offer full financial aid or even pay you to go to school! I want to guide you through this process and help you focus your efforts to make university affordable.

Your Fellowsip Advisor

More or less, every university has a “fellowship advisor.” Typically, this person’s job is to help you find and apply to fellowships and to prepare your application to be as competitive as possible so that your university can rank higher and you can achieve your goals. At many schools, like my own alma mater, fellowship advisors are stretched thin or are lacking experience themselves to advise students. For example, in my four years of university, we had a new advisor every year who doubled as a professor or staff member and was completely underpaid and overworked. Many “elite” universities have a full-time fellowship advisor, well-paid with ample resources and attention for every student. As an alumni of many selective programs, I have recognized a deep institutional inequality. I want to, at least, offer my own help and knowledge to students, maybe like you, who want an equal opportunity for success.

Your Opportunity Advisor

If “scholarship advisor” is not a real job, then “opportunity advisor” is definitely not a real job title. It is now! From the Peace Corps to Americorps to Workaway to NALCAP and TAPIF, study abroad programs, language learning programs, volunteer programs, epic summer job opportunities: I know about so many opportunities and I want to research for you to find your perfect year. If you have just graduated from highschool or university and are looking to take a gap year.
